Skil power tools have been around for many years. I remember the big heavy skil saws and skil jigsaw my Dad had on the workbench when I was young.
Of course the Skil belt sander was the only power tool he let me use at that age. Even then it was all that I could handle.
Today Skil makes power tools that are not like the ones our Dads used.
Edmond Michel invented the world's first electric handsaw in 1924 for use by workers to cut cane sugar. In that same year the Michel Electric Handsaw Company was created.

In 1928 the Skilsaw Model E circular was created utilizing a die-cast aluminum motor housing.This design has been shaped and further developed into what is known as the Skilsaw Model 77.
Decades of refinement and devlopment have continued to keep the Skilsaw model 77, in one form or another, on retail store shelves to this day.
In 1992 Skil entered into a joint venture with Robert Bosch, forming the S-B Power Tool Company, a subsidiary of Bosch tools.
After almost 85 years Skil is still one of the most recognized names in the industry. They make more than 50 different reliable yet economical tools for the do-it-yourselfer.
This is a tool line that was designed with the Do-it-Yourselfer in mind. Tough, powerful and long lasting yet very economical to buy.
If you need a simple tool to do a quick project and not spend a lot of money on then Skil tools are for you.
However, if you want to become a serious weekend warrior then Skil Power Tools may not be for you. The same is true if you have to make a living with your tools.
While the Skilsaw Model 77 worm drive circular saw is as tough as nails. If you want an indestructable miter saw, jigsaw, or power tool with all the features needed by professionals then a Skil brand might not be for you.

Skil power tools hasn't always been my first choice when it comes to buying tools. I do have to say that whenever I did buy this brand I haven't gone wrong for the money.
As long as you know that you're getting what you pay for...then....no problem.
All in all I would recommend this line of power tools for the economical, minimal use power tool purchase.
